Finally, a Kitchen Tour!

Those who have been reading for a while may remember that we moved into a new house about four months ago.  We’ve been slowly getting settled in, and I am happy to say it feels very much like home.  I know a lot of readers wanted to see the kitchen so, here you go!  I’m posting a couple of pictures here, but you can head over to CafeMom to read a little feature about my blog, family, and kitchen to see more!

Our new kitchen is about twice the size of the old one, with about 10,000 times more counter space (maybe a slight exaggeration…)

The gigantic island – my love!  For someone who cooks and bakes as much as me, I don’t think it would be an exaggeration to say this has been life-changing 🙂

I used some canvas prints of my favorite food shots to brighten up the wall I face while I’m cooking.  I still have one more full blank wall though…

I love sharing delicious food with you all.  Thanks for reading!

  2. Dear Annie, when I read recipes with a couple of steps to follow for sure, I can not help remembering a friend of mine who keeps saying if a recipe guides her like “on the other hand do this, do that”,she stops making it:))),this makes smile all the time, just wanted to share it with you.

  3. Wow! What a beautiful home! What a way to make a girl jelious, I have a 725 sq foot appartment with about 2 feet of counter space. Enjoy the new home and our new snow!

  4. Thanks for sharing your kitchen! I saw the slideshow at CafeMom and it’s gorgeous. Your idea of the canvases is awesome! It’s so unique! I may be asking for more info on that someday in the future 🙂

I love your island!!! I completely understand how that would be life-changing. That’s one of my “deal-breakers” for when we go house hunting – must have tons of counter space with an island!

  5. hi annie! found your site recently and LOVE your food!
i’ve made your chicken gyros for my family twice now and we had your island chix last week. they LOVED everything!
i’m also making your brownies for a super bowl party.
so thank you for the great recipes and gorgeous photos!
p.s. your new kitchen is beautiful.

  6. And you have my favorite too. A Kitchen Aid stand mixer!

  7. I love the canvas prints! What a great idea.

  8. I love the wall with the canvas prints! What a great way to brighten up the space. Just out of curiosity where did you get those done? Was it online or local? I may have to steal the idea (once I take enough pictures that I like).

  9. Great kitchen! I love islands and roomy counters in a kitchen, they are essential to those that do a lot of baking and cooking. Our last kitchen didn’t have much room and as a result, I didn’t cook as much for about a year. Thankfully our new house has a big kitchen. Though, my new kitchen tends to get a little cluttered now and then lol. More space, more things to fill it with, ha!

I have the same red Kitchen Aide mixer, LOVE! 🙂

  25. Awesome kitchen. I love the idea of hanging up pictures of things that you have cooked. I have this empty wall in my dining room that I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with and I may have to steal your idea. Great blog!!

  26. I love your pictures on your wall, what a great idea!!

  27. What great style you have! I am very happy for you.

  28. Beautiful! But I have to say, I LOVE the canvas prints…hmmm…you’ve got my wheels turning on some new kitchen decor!

  29. Your kitchen is enviable! Your kitchen counters ARE massive. The canvas prints are such a nice touch to your kitchen and if I can take pictures as nice as yours, I MIGHT muster the courage to copy your wall art. Some photography questions for you…do you shoot in RAW or JPG format? Also, do you use Photoshop to edit any of your pics? Your food photography is beautifully composed. One more question…how did you mount your canvas prints?

    • Hi Liz,
As it turns out, I never knew the difference between RAW or JPG format, or what I use when I shoot. I looked it up and it seems that my camera captures both RAW and JPG data simultaneously for each image and stores them separately. I don’t use Photoshop, but I do a small amount of post-processing in iPhoto on my Mac. As for mounting the canvas prints, a friend taught me how to do it. The short story is, I cut out pieces of foam board (like thick poster board) to fit the size of the pictures, and used a staple gun to secure them. It turned out great and was FAR cheaper than paying for pre-stretched canvases.

  30. wow…just..wow. It’s absolutley beautiful, Annie! I hope to one day have a kitchen like that. Its gorgeous!

  31. Thank YOU for sharing! I love, love, LOVE your site!

  32. Annie, I just ate your sugar cookies today! I went to my friend Michelle’s baby shower, and she gave away your onesie cookies as favors (a gift from her friend Lydia). Such a small world! They were delicious and beautiful. I have been reading your blog and trying your recipes for about two years now (since I “met” you on the cooking board on the Nest) and am a huge fan 🙂 Congratulations on your new house and improved kitchen – we picked our house in Carmel primarily due to the kitchen, too! Go Colts, and happy baking!

    • Hi Cathy,
Wow, how cool! I am so glad you enjoyed the cookies. I have such fun making them! Glad you enjoy the blog. Thanks for reading! And yes, go Colts!!!

  36. I love the new kitchen! That island looks like a dream come true, and the wall art idea was ingenious ♥ (@StephanieVelezR)

  37. I came across your blog by chance and I absolutely love it!!!! Wonderful looking food, yummmm! I really like that you made canvas prints of your food and put them in your kitchen. Very snazzy idea 😉

  38. I love that island and the photo wall is a fantastic idea!

  39. I hosted a baby shower today and made your onesie cookies, cupcakes, and fruit bruschetta. They were a hit. I’m also a resident, and I am amazed you are able to do so much with so little time!

  40. I love your kitchen! It’s so bright…it has to make you happy to be in there 🙂

  41. Looks like an AMAZING kitchen. Perfect fit for your amazing food!

  42. COOLEST kitchen wall decorating idea EVER! You rock. If I had more wall space in my own kitchen I would do that myself. Oh, and those red velvet whoopie pies look amazing! Have you ever made regular chocolate mini whoopie pies? I had some from Jungle Jim’s in Cincinnati and can’t seem to find a recipe that matches up to those. If you do, let me know! Thanks! Love your blog!

  43. Gorgeous kitchen! I’m so jealous! That food wall is fabulous! 🙂

  44. What a great idea to have your food photography displayed in your kitchen. I’m in the process of having my new kitchen built so I know how excited you must be with yours. Happy cooking and enjoy all that extra bench space.

  45. Beautiful kitchen!! What color paint did you use on the walls? It looks neutral but not too stark white. Thanks!

    • Flojo,
This is the color it was painted when we bought it so I don’t know the name. It’s just a light beige color though, I’m sure there are a million shades like it out there.

  46. That KA is a beauty!! And you have a lovely kitchen! Wish I had one like that, living in an apartment in a bustling city, even calling our kitchens tiny would be pushing it!

  47. Annie, I just discovered your blog! I love everything on it. I made the cute little bacon-eggs-toast cups yesterday morning and they were a hit. Thanks so much!

  48. Hi Annie, I previously sent this question but I wasn’t sure if you got it or not. Love your food pics! Have you considered selling them, like Smitten Kitchen does? Thanks!

    • Hi Ariana,
Yes, I saw your previous question, I’ve just been too busy to respond. I would absolutely consider it, just not quite sure how to go about getting it started. I’ll look into it if I ever get a free second. But if there is something you are interested in specifically, let me know in the meantime and I’ll try to figure it out.
