About Annie

Hi!  Thanks for visiting my blog.  I am a resident physician living in Indianapolis, IN with my wonderful husband and faithful taste-tester Ben, and our beautiful son Andrew.  I don’t have much free time, but when I do I love to spend it in the kitchen cooking and baking up delicious treats for my friends and family.  Enjoy!

About the Blog
I started this blog as a hobby in the spring of 2007.  It has since grown into something that means so much more to me than just any hobby, and has a following I am very proud of.  I started cooking my sophomore year of college, and am entirely self-taught, so this blog has been a wonderful way for me to chronicle my culinary adventures and continually motivates me to improve my skills and try new things.

About My Photography

I have no formal training in photography.  All that I know, I have learned along the way through practice and carefully observing other food and photography blogs.  My photography was horrendous when I started the blog and although it pains me, I try not to remove my beginner’s photos because I think it is important to realize that everyone starts somewhere and has the potential to improve.

Through the end of 2008, I was using a Sony Cybershot point-and-shoot for all of my photos, but now I use a Canon Rebel XTi.  I have two lenses that I primarily use for food photography: this lens and this macro lens.  Additionally, I have found the use of a Speedlite extremely helpful in providing me flexibility with food photography.  No matter what time of day or night I’m shooting, I can get great lighting with this flash.

      You are an insperation!

    • I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog!!! I stumbled on to your blog by accident, boy was I pleasently surprised!! I have tried a lot of your food posting (mostly the cupcakes) and they NEVER let me down!! You truly inspire me, when I am feeling down or just feeling low I turn to your blog and it just makes me happy and inspires me to keep cooking and baking!! Thank you for the beautiful blog, receipes and just your warm, fun touch!! Keep up the wonderful blog, I look forward to what you have to say and post!!

    • I just wanted to let you know I love your blog! So inspiring and it has definitely rekindled my love for cooking and baking 🙂 THANK YOU!

    • I’m not quite sure how I managed to stumble upon your site, but boy am I glad that I did! Last year I went through the trouble of making a pumpkin pie from scratch to bring with me to my fiancee’s parents for Thanksgiving. His mom and aunt are baking aficionado’s, so naturally I wanted to throw my hat in the ring. The pie came out wonderful and I deemed it a success, however now I have the urge to try baking more.
Fast forward to this year where fall is settling upon New England – coming off of last year’s pumpkin pie success made me especially antsy to make something delicious and pumpkin-y. By some fluke of the google gods I came across your recipe for pumpkin cream cheese muffins and gave them a whirl! They didn’t last long and everybody is demanding that I make more! Your recipe was simply wonderful and easy to follow!
You are definitely an inspiration and I look forward to trying out more of your recipes! I’ve got my eyes on the banana caramel cupcakes as they seem just as challenging as some of my nursing courses (eek!)!
I’m not a master of brevity and I apologize for the length!

  2. I love the new layout, especially the larger image size permitted for your yummy foods. 😛

  3. Hi Annie — I love your blog. Your are obviously VERY talented and VERY smart. Congratulations on med school — don’t know where you find the time to do it all !!! YOur photography is fabulous and I’m sure your finished product tastes as good as it looks !!!!
I, too, lost the love of my life to cancer — my sweet husband of 10 years died at age 50 after 10 weeks of colon cancer. But my new stepson is a resident in pediatric oncology — he actually interviewed for a fellowship in Indie! And he and his med student-fiance’ LOVE to cook too — it has been lots of fun. Life goes around . . . . . Here’s to many, many more years of baking and cooking !!!

  4. I got a warm feeling inside when I read that you were attending medical school in your Livestrong cupcake post. I’ve never had cancer, but I do know what it’s like to be frustrated and sick. I think it’s more than wonderful that you’re going to be a doctor; I know your patients will love you! Having an empathetic doctor who really cares and understands their patient’s suffering is a real blessing to come by! I wish you nothing but the best! 🙂

  5. Hi,

  6. Hi — love your blog. So much so that I’ve listed you on my new blog From the French Kitchen: http://thefrenchkitchen.wordpress.com/

My best friend is in medical school and I can’t believe you find the time to cook and blog about it! Good for you!

I’m very new to this and am fascinated by so many great food blogs. I hope you’ll have a second to look at my site and give me any tips you have.

    Thanks!

  7. Wow, I just found your blog and I am really enjoying it. And I am also in Indy (well just south of Indy).

  8. Great looking blog. I gotta make me some of that chocolate raspberry ice cream. Mmmm. Keep up the posting!

  9. Hi Annie. I absolutely love your blog. My family’s favorite recipe has been your Reece Cup Cake. I served it poolside the weekend before school started to celebrate summer’s end. Wow-what a hit!!! You have been a monumental inspiration for me to begin my own food blog. I posted my first recipe today. What a thrilling, rewarding experience!! After babysitting through the day and running our four kids to their activities in the evening, this is something I can work on and call my own. Your blog was the first one to be listed among my favorites for people to link to from my blog. I hope you’ll check mine out and offer any advise you may have. http://ChristysKitchenCreations.blogspot.com/ I hope your “boys” are doing well-I often go to your family blog to see how your little one is growing. What a cutie!!

  10. I just came across your blog and I am so glad I did! I can’t wait to try some of your recipes. First up will be the Blueberry Crumb Bars. Keep the recipes coming!

  11. Annie,

I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely LOVE your blog. My husband and I were married in May and I am still working to perfect my cooking skills at dinner every night. Your blog has been an incredible help and made me look like the Betty Crocker I never was! Thank you and good luck with Med School!!

  12. Hi Annie

I just stumbled upon your blog today and I have to say you have a lot of nice recipes on your blog, I think I will be visiting your blog more often. I having a bit of a problem printing your recipes out with the pictures on it. I highlight it in blue and once I get to the picture of the recipe that wordpress appear I can’t seem to get pass it. Do you have any suggestions that you could give me to help me along with this process, it is very frustrating. Thank You.

  13. Hi Jackie,
So glad you enjoy the blog. I’m sorry you are having issues with printing out pictures. I do not know anything about why that would happen or how to fix it. Sorry! Someday I’ll move to my own domain and hopefully have printer-friendly versions, but first I have to find time to make the switch!

  14. I just found your blog today through StumbleUpon. Your really have a nice collection of recipes on here and the pictures are making me so hungry!

Just wondering if you would be interested in a link exchange with my blog: http://www.cheftomcooks.com

    Kind Regards,

    Tom

  15. Hey there Annie!
I absolutely LOVE your blog and the pictures. It makes me salivate! I’ve tried some of your recipes and it turned out really really superbly well. My family and friends have been asking me where I got the recipes from and they’re begging me to make it for them all the time! Do post it more recipes alright?

    -Greetings from Singapore 😀

  16. Hi Annie,

You have such a great blog! I really admire the way you make time for all the things that are important to you. My best friend and I have really enjoyed looking at your site and the sites listed on your blogroll and have tried several great recipes. We both love to bake and experiment in the kitchen and we’re interested in starting up our own blogs. I’m not too computer savvy so I was wondering if you have a few basic blog tips to pass along. I’m particularly interested in the etiquette of trying recipes from other blogs and then posting them on your own blog – I’d like to be sure that I’m properly giving credit where it’s due. So if you get the chance to pass along any helpful advice I’d love to read it. Thanks so much!

  17. I wanted to let you know that I made those pesto palmiers and the pineapple chicken salad that you had in your blog for the baby shower I hosted last weekend and it was a HUGE hit! I also used your idea for the dyed onsies and the oreo truffles in the cute little boxes. Everything seemed to go over very well! Thanks so much for all your ideas and such!

  18. I like your life, and most importantly your cookings. I’ve tried some of them and they turned out finger licking good, and sinful. My god. Godspeed, annie!

  19. Hi Annie .. great blog .. with presumably great recipes as everyone seems really keen on them.
My question is .. you’ve obviously had some problems yourself or your family did .. and you’ve got a great family- husband, child etc .. but I can’t see your story – & becoming a doctor is a major factor in your life .. and it’d be great to keep in touch ..
My mother aged 88 had 3 major strokes 21 months ago – she can communicate, so we’re very lucky, and she lives on .. very sleepy now .. & I’d like to use my knowledge of this time in 3 ‘hospitals’ – one intensive care unit, one hospital – for “assessment” in London and now down with me on the south coast of England in a Nursing Centre .. where she’s been for 14 months. She’s fed with a PEG .. which she wanted 17 months ago ..
I don’t know what you think .. you’ve got lots going on .. ? All the best Hilary

  20. Hi Annie.. I added your blog into StumbleUpon

  21. Hi Annie! I’ve been following your blog for over a year now, and I thought it was about time I posted a comment! I’ve made so many of your yummy recipes and whenever I’m looking for something new to cook or bake, I just check out whatever you’ve made recently! And I’m really excited about the baby food recipes…I have a little boy just over 3 months now, and when he starts on solids I’m definitely going to try your recipes first!

You have a beautiful family, and I hope you have a great Christmas!

  22. Annie, your new site causes IE to crash. Anything about that?

  23. OH MY GOODNESS- I am in love with this bloggie and you and your family! So divine 🙂 I’m sorry but y’all are too precious! Can’t wait to keep on reading

  24. Love you site. Question…I am from Indy as well. Who took your family photos?

  25. Hi Annie 🙂 I came across your blog via a friend’s link, and I am really impressed! I’m also inspired to try cooking. I’ve always maintained that I can’t cook, I would fail if I tried anything hard, and so never have done anything in the kitchen to speak of. Seeing how simple the recipes can be and how well they can turn out really makes me feel like “I can do it” too. Your family is beautiful – I look forward to more updates. Wish me luck!

  26. Hi Annie, I left you a couple of questions about your light box on the post where you showed it but thought I’d leave a comment here too. I love your blog and all your great recipes. I put together a light box after seeing yours but I don’t know if it is the light bulbs I got or what buy my pictures are still pretty yellow. Any tips? What brand of bulbs are you using and where did you get them? Thanks for your help!

  27. I recently came across your blog and I LOVE IT! Especially love your adventures with making baby food. I am in school and get home late; however, it nice to know that I am not the only one who loves to cook in their free time.
I look forward to new updates!
Btw, your family it TOO cute!

  28. I love your blog and your family is adorable. I’m so jealous! Your cooking looks delicious…I’ve already stolen a few of your ideas to use in my kitchen. Thanks for the fabulous cooking ideas and the great pictures.

  29. HI!!

I dont have a website or even a blog but I just happened to come across your blog and I have to say that I absolutely adore it!!! You take the most beautiful pictures of all your creations and your audience can clearly see how much you love what you do. You have given me so many ideas on gifts and treats for my family and friends as well. I just wanted to say to keep up the great baking and most importantly, thank you for sharing!!!

    cheryl

  30. Such a beautiful family!!!

  31. I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely adore your website! I can’t help but ask myself, “how does she do it?”. Your married, a devoted mother AND in med school. How do you have the time to cook? I’m married, a devoted mother to a puppy, and in grad school (graduating in June – yay!) and I barely have time. You go, girl!

You are awesome! Thank you for your inspiration :o)

    Kristi

  32. and… I can’t spell. I meant “you’re”, not “your”. I added you to my blogroll… I hope that’s okay :o)

  33. I love love love your food blog. It soo inspires me.. I love to cook and bake. Your are soo awesome–you have a wonderful hand at cooking and baking..my eyes are in disbelief…I wish you lived near. I live in the Los Angeles area. I would love to cook with you. Most people I know are too lazy to cook. And make fun of me because I do. Weird I know. My sis has cancer right now. She is going thru Chemo-stem cell replacement therapy- non hodgkins lymphoma.. She is hanging in there. She is strong. And is fighting for her life everyday. She is my oldest sister. And I love her and respect her…She likes to cook too. She lives up in RENO Nevada.

  34. I adore your blog and one day wish to have the time to bake all of your goodies. Instead I just bookmark them for now. I’m also in Med School but barely have time to take care of myself, my husband and 2 dogs let alone cook AND be a mother! Kudos to you! Although I have baby fever we’re waiting, or at least trying to time it around rotations 🙂

  35. Hi Annie! I know you hear this a lot, but I love your blog – it’s one of my favorites! I’ve been following it for a while, but have never commented until now. I’ve made so many recipes from your blog, all of which have been great. I’m amazed that you are a wife, mother, and med student; you are such an inspiration! I have difficulty finding time to cook and bake just being a wife and grad student! I’ve just started my own cooking blog (today actually) and will be crediting your recipes often in the near future. Thanks so much for sharing them!

  36. I love reading your blog! Great recipes and beautiful photos! I was wondering if it is possible to subscribe by email?

Thanks for publishing such a great blog!

    • Hi Sherry!
Thanks for the comment, I always love hearing from readers who enjoy my blog! I am not sure but I *think* the way to subscribe by email is:
Click on “RSS entries” just underneath the blog header.
On that page, on the right sidebar near the bottom is the heading “Actions”, under which you can click “Subscribe in Mail”.
Hopefully that works – if not, I’m not sure!
      🙂 Annie

  37. Hi Annie,

I just wanted to let you know i LOVE reading your blog and seeing what you are up to in the kitchen next. I’ve been reading it for months now and have printed off several recipies. I hadn’t clicked on “about me” until today, so I never knew you lived in Indy. That’s awesome! My husband and I will be moving to Indy in May after I graduate from law school. I am originally from Terre Haute, and have been away to Ann Arbor MI for law school. Yay for a fellow Hoosier! 🙂
    Katie

  38. Cute new photo! I found your blog through seeing your photos on Bobbi and Mike’s site and I absolutely love your blog and trying all the recipes I can!

I’m going to be a med student (at ATSU-SOMA in Mesa, AZ!) starting in July and you are a HUGE inspiration for me! Cooking and photography are big stress-relievers for me and I’m so happy to have found your blog and so much delicious inspiration!!

Thanks so much and keep the recipes coming! YUM!

  39. Wow! Not only does the food all sound delicious…but it LOOKS amazing. You’re a talented chef and photographer. =) And doctor-to-be.

  40. Hi Annie,
I am also a new mom (my son is almost 1 year old), a software engineer, and a baker. I really love your blog and your photos, your son is adorable! I listed Annies Eats on my blog: http://www.cakestudent.com. I hope you can visit sometime and let me know what you think. I just started so I have been looking for inspiration from sites that I really like, such as yours! Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes, I look forward to future postings!

  41. I’m sure going to miss sampling the treats Ben brings to work when I ship out next month. Best of luck with the next phase at school.

  42. […] with a little butter and jam or honey. I came across a recipe for homemade english muffins over at Annie’s Eats and I just had to make […]

  43. Annie, I LOVE your blog! I just tried the Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes (without the lemonade syrup) and they were fantastic. I just need to work out the frosting because mine did not look as beautiful as yours.

I also write a food blog and would love for you to check it out… http://hartleyconfections.com.

I’ll definitely keep checking back for new recipes to try!
    -Jessica

  44. I just found your blog, and am completely hooked. Good thing I can’t gain weight by just looking at the amazing food! I will be a loyal and drooling follower!

  45. What an adorable new blog design, Annie!! Keep up the good work!

  46. I love the new blog design. 🙂 It matches your kitchen, by the looks of it! =D

  47. Annie, I’m in the same boat as you regarding photography. I started out with a cheap point and shoot, and although horrendous, I will not remove those photos from my blog beginnings. Now, I also have a Canon Digital Rebel XTi with the same lens as you, and desperately need a good macro lens also (SO $$$$)! The only thing I’m also missing is natural light, which I’m assuming you have because your photos blow mine out of the water! Beautiful blog, gorgeous baby, and delicious recipes. I’ll be stopping by often! 🙂

    Lisa

  48. I love the new layout! It is so pretty and has a fresh clean look.

  49. hi annie!!

i’m from Dubai and i love reading your blog. I come everyday to see what delicious foods youve been making! your son is truly adorable and i wish you the best of luck!!

  50. Your pics are awesome, your presentation makes me jealous and the fact that you have time to do it all makes you super woman! Love the blog.

  51. I just discovered your blog and it has opened up a whole new world to me. I am in my early twenties, so my interest in cooking is a little ahead of my time, or at least my friends. Your blog is like a friend to me in the kitchen! I have similar tastes to yours and love how you frequently alter recipes and select low-fat options. I will definitely be keeping up with your blog from here on out!

  52. Just stumbled on your blog while searching for the Mango-banana daiquiri recipe I had at a friend’s house last weekend. I found it! I also found you and an amazing story and wonderful blog with delicious looking recipes!! You are an inspiration-keep up all the great work!!
Can’t wait to try some of the cupcake recipes!!!

  53. Annie!

B-r-a-v-o. I don’t like cooking. It takes too long, and half the time the stuff turns out awful or just not to our liking. then came you :). Seems we (hubby and I) have about the same tastes in food as you do. No more searching for recipes, only to discover they’re too bland, too spicy, etc. I’ve tried a few of your recipes (barefoot contessa and some others) and have not had to throw anything out yet. I’m actually liking cooking, now that I’m starting to get compliments on my food – yay! and thanks.

  54. Annie – I just found your blogged from recipes linked from Good Food and Good Thymes. I cannot wait to try out some of your recipes – especially pizza crust. Pizza is a favorite in my household, and I love to make as much from scratch as possible. Can’t wait to test the recipes on my family and friends. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with the rest of the world 🙂

  55. Annie-

I found your blog thru somewhere (For the life of me I can remember where off hand) but I have loved everything that I have tried from it so far! As well as whenever I bring a recipe from your site to an event I get raves as well! I’ve always loved to cook and coming to your site for inspiration is great as I find myself in a cooking rut far too often.

Thanks for all your inspiration! I can’t wait to go thru your older recipes as well and find treasures that I’m sure will become more of my favorites!!!

  56. wow, how do you have time to be a mom, wife, student, doctor AND baker!? i’m in awe!

  57. Wonderful blog. One of my friends sent me the link today and I have been having fun browsing through the delicious recipes and beautiful pics. So many recipes are now on my “to-make” list. Who knew that the butterflies on “butterfly cupcakes” could be so easy?

  58. this is a wonderful site. i stumbled upon this page while searching for a peach streusel coffee cake recipe and i’m so going to try yours right about now! 🙂

  59. i love this website. reciepes are so easy to read and understand. im going to be moving to sudan and am looking for all kinds of homemade reicepes from the states so that i can bring a little of the us to my home kitchen in sudan.

  60. I just had to comment. I ran across your website at work while browsing (shhh) and I spent 2 hours reading it!! Your pictures are gorgeous and you make the food look delicious and easy. Your honesty with each dish is great too. I’m just starting to make foods that are more complex than 3 ingredients and I am so looking forward to trying quite a few of your dishes!

  61. Hey,
I just want to say I have tried some of your recipes and not only do I love them but I have had a ton of people ask me for the recipe and naturally I send them to your wonderful webpage.
Anywho, my question was have you ever made a Tres Leche Cake before????

  62. i LOVE this website!! you are a great cook but where do you get all these fablous recipes from?? xx

    • Hi Molly,
I list the source of the recipe at the bottom of each post. Most are recipes I adapt from other sources and some are originals.
      🙂 Annie

  63. Who does your pictures, they are amazing. I need better pictures 😉 love your blog thank you….I’m not a baker for sure.

  64. Hi Annie!
I just stumbled upon your website and I love it! I just recently graduated from college and got married and am trying to do a lot more cooking than I did in college. Your site is great and encouraging because you are a busy wife and can still find time to cook amazing, but easy to follow recipes. Thank you! 🙂
    Erin

  65. Hello Annie, you have a beautiful family! I am a stay at home mom with 4 boys and one girl. My husband just graduated from medical school this past May and is in his first year of internal medicine residency. He is gone alot and being at home all day with baby Jake gets pretty lonely, though he is wonderful. I love to cook and while looking for a fabulous cake recipe to make for my son’s 13th birthday this weekend, I stumbled across your blog. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! ( I will be making the Reeses peanut butter chocolate cake, among other things from your site.) Call me old fashioned, but I like to have all of my recipes in paper form, rather than saved online in a file, so I started printing out recipes of yours that I would be interested in… and I ran out of ink for my printer! I am a trooper and continued through to the end of your blog, reading backwards into your life. I even wrote some recipes on paper by hand(now that is REALLY old fashioned! 🙂 I just had to see what was on the next page! I decided that I am going to try to make every recipe in your blog! I am so excited!! I just wanted to let you know that you aveh brought a little excitement to my life and my families bellies! Thank you! Take care and God Bless you , your husband and your beautiful baby boy!
ps… You should put together a cookbook in paper form. I would definitely buy it! Sincerely, Tamara

  66. Found you through TasteSpotting. So inspiring to see a resident cooking and baking and not just working at the hospital!

  67. Hi Annie– Your blog is really wonderful! Can’t believe it took me so long to discover it. Simply stunning photos too! I’ll be visiting often.

    Jane

  68. Annie,

What a great site…you put the fun back in cooking. I decorate cakes for a living so found myself not wanting to be back in the kitchen at night to cook for my family. But after reading your blog daily and surfing through the recipes, I now am excited to plan my menu for the week and enjoy cooking meals.

    Keep up the good work!

    Kind Regards,

    Nina

  69. Annie,
This website is absolutely fabulous- I just came across it a couple weeks ago and have already tried a few of your recipes. You make everything sound so exciting, your posts are so warm, and your photos look so delicious. After finding your blog I searched for others of the same quality and did not find ANY. Keep it up girl!

  70. You are on my blogroll! I enjoy looking through your recipes and pictures!

  71. Jesus Herbert Walker Christ, lady! This site is wonderful just to LOOK at. Can I borrow you for a few months or so?

  72. hey annie, great blog, i’m also a med student but in sydney and i recently started a blog! i just wanted to say i feel like your website is what i hope to achieve in the future, it’s amazing and i can’t wait to try a recipe tomorrow (i’m on holidays, so this is the perfect time before uni starts again). keep up the good work!

  73. Hi Annie! I was searching the internet for recipes and happened upon your site. My daughter’s name is Annie and I looked just because I liked the name. I have been on here like 3 times in 2 days! It’s my new past time! I haven’t made anything from here yet, but Annie’s 1st birthday party is next Sunday and I have 3 or 4 things from here on my menu! 🙂 Thanks!

  74. Hi Annie:

I came upon your blog by chance while I was looking for a pizza sauce recipe. Your blog is a treasure box of recipes. I love it. Thanks for providing pictures with your recipes. I like to see what the outcome should be…hahaha. I’ll be visiting your blog over and over. Oh, the Salmon Pesto looks wonderful. I think I’m making that this weekend for me and my husband. 🙂

  75. So I am trying to figure out this RSS feed thing. When I look at your blog through the RSS feed it doesn’t show all of your recipes – same thing when i view it through google reader – (it shows more through google reader but it only shows recipes from May 22, 2009 & on). I can’t flag/save some of my favorite recipes (pumpkin cream cheese muffins!) & i’d like to. Any thoughts on how to do this? THANKS!

    • Hi Gwyn,
I wish I had a good answer for you! I am a fellow Google Reader user and love it for the most part, but I have had this same problem with some of my other favorite blogs and have not been able to figure out the problem. You might try contacting someone at Google customer service – they would know how to help better than I.
      🙂 Annie

  76. you have a marvelous website……love your recipes and your photos.
    thanks for existing.

  77. Wow! This is a beautiful site- great photography, very well-written, and just emits a cheery vibe in general. The recipes all sound delicious. I’m definitely going to try that Caramel Apple Cheesecake Pie! Keep up the great work!

  78. Hi Annie! Great website! I don’t know how you juggle it all…I have a hard enough time with two cats, and I’m not a resident physician!

    Cheers!

    Lisa

  79. Hi! I just recently found your website from bakingbites.com and noticed that you are a resident physician. I am utterly awed by how you have time to bake something almost everyday. Not only do you bake, but they are amazing! I am currently a third year medical student and I also love to bake. I barely have time to bake even once a week. How do you do it? anyway, I just wanted to compliment you and your really cute website. Keep up the good work! Maybe it isn’t impossible to bake and be a resident at the same time 🙂

  80. Hi Annie,

I came across your blog tonight and read a bunch of posts thinking “wow, I wish I had the time to make all this yummy stuff.” Then, I read your “about me” tab and realized you have less time than I do. I’m a 3rd yr med student. I love to bake but my waist line just can’t have it too much because I would eat it all. I love your blog! Thanks for the great recipes.

    Jenny

  81. New doctor, new baby, hungry husband… you are an inspiration! You really inspire me to get off my butt and do more. If you can do it with your crazy schedule, maybe I can too 🙂

  82. Annie, Just found your website today when searching for pumpkin cream cheese muffins online and I love it (the muffins were great too). I am also in healthcare (a PA in Oncology) and exploring new foods and flavors it just the perfect way to get your mind off work and lift up the spirit. I have been exploring your website on and off all day and can’t wait to try more recipes. Thanks! Amy

  83. Hi Annie, I know you live in Indy and I think you should consider teaching a royal icing class. I am sure you would have a lot of interested cookie decorators if you asked on the indy nest/bump. I would be willing to pay a lot to make cookies as good as you do! (I love the halloween cookies!!)

    • Hi Katie,
Thanks for the suggestion! That does sound fun, but I’m not sure of the logistics of such a class since so much of the time with royal icing is spent waiting for it to dry before you can move on. I will keep it in mind. In the mean time, you are certainly welcome to order cookies from me – I love an excuse to make cookies!
      🙂 Annie

  84. Hi Annie…I just have to say that I love your blog….I stumbled on it a few weeks ago and was hooked! I visit almost daily and have even got my sister visiting as well……You are a true artist and I’m totally envious! I went to culinary school a few years ago but never really did anything with it…but when I come to your site I’m totally inspired ……but I must ask… where do you find the time to cook and bake so much and play mommy and wife…and be a resident!!??? Do share your secrets! Your food pictures are absolutely beautiful….everything always looks so perfect!! Keep it up ….I look forward to my daily Annie’s Eat fix!! 🙂

  85. HI ANNIE, MY NAME IS BRENDA, AND I LIVE IN JOHANNESBURG SOUTH AFRICA. JUST WANT TO SAY HOW MUCH I ENJOY GOING THROUGH ALL YOUR RECIPES!

  86. Lovely pictures and lovely blog!!! gloria

  87. Hi Annie, there are a few blog that i visit everyday and yours is one of them. nice photos and delicious recipes. congrats:))
    love from Turkey

  88. Hi Annie,

I found your website today when I did a Google search for Chicken Gyros. I’m going to try it and the Pita Bread recipe. Your pictures are beautiful and your descriptions of recipes are motivating. I’ve haven’t tried a new recipe for so long but that’s going to change. 🙂 You’ve been bookmarked!

    Jenn

  89. You have my full respect. To be such a good cook and also run so popular blog about cooking, that must have cost you a lot of brilliant job. Keep it up…

  90. I found your blog a few weeks ago, and I´ve already tried several recipes. Your instructions are so easy to follow, and you post the most delicious recipes! You´ve really encouraged and inspired me to keep trying new things and you´ve made me enjoy the kitchen even more!
Thank you for all the lovely recipes! (my husband is also very grateful! 😉

  91. Hi Annie,
I am with my niece Liz who showed me your blog. It is beautiful and it looks like you really love to bake. Liz and I love to share recipes and her blog is great too. I don’t blog as I am “older than dirt” that would be 60, but I love that you two have such a love of promoting good healthy food. I think you two should form some kind of cyber network of food bloggers.

Great job. Beautiful baby!!! I have a new granddaughter and I must say babies are great.

  92. Do you take requests, Annie? 🙂 I was reading something that suggested using eggnog in baking recipes for an extra special holiday taste. Eggnog pound cake sounds awfully good right now, but I’m not brave enough to experiment on my own. Would you be up to it, or do you have any other eggnog baking recipes? Thanks!!!

    • Hi Kate,
Funny that you asked – I actually just made some eggnog cranberry muffins and will be posting them soon! Also, I do have eggnog cupcakes already on the blog and they are delish! I will be remaking those very soon as well. I have a couple more eggnog treat ideas that I hope to try this holiday season, and since you asked I’ll try to make it a priority.

  93. Wow! I was just thinking about making eggnog muffins…need to look up your recipe then (LOVE your blog!)

  94. I am dying over your site! You are like Super mom/wife/women. Everything looks amazing! OMG – this is added to my fav blogs and I have a stack of recipes that I am going to try. you rock! And your little boy is adorable too! Keep on cookin’! -Marley

  95. I found your blog while looking for a recipe for stuffed mushrooms and have spent the last hour or so looking through many of your great recipes! I have tagged so many of them to try…Thanks so much for sharing! (I’m adding this to my google reader now so I don’t miss any more goodies 🙂 )

  96. Hi Annie!! I absolutely love your site and read every new post! My question is how do you stay so trim baking all the time? All your posts looks so delicous I would have a hard time not overeating all the goodies you make!

    • Hi Nicole,
You are too funny! I cook healthy meals, work a lot, chase after a toddler, exercise when I can, and give almost all the goodies I bake away to others. Thankfully I have tons of friends, family, coworkers, etc. who are more than willing to accept 🙂

  97. Hi Annie,
Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to create this wonderful blog to share your recipes. I found your blog when I was searching for a Bailey’s Butter cream recipe. I found one and so much more. I cannot wait to try the Guinness and Bailey’s Irish Cream Cupcakes. In June 2010, I am making a cupcake wedding cake for a friend’s daughter. When we met to talk about what she wanted, she said she did not care about the flavours, as wedding cakes NEVER taste good. I was shocked, I told her that I guarantee the wedding cakes I make always taste as good as they look. I am taking this as a personal challenge and I am searching for some new recipes with the extra WOW factor for the tasting in January. I found a number of WOW’s on your site. Thank you so much. Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy 2010.

  98. Annie –

I am so inspired by your blog! Your creations are just beautiful and your photography skills are just amazing! Everything looks delicious and so well put together.

    You have a beautiful family!

    Happy New Year!

    A loyal reader,

    Natalie

  99. You have a really great site. I am an old physician and a new food blogger and you are a new physician and an old blogger! Keep up the good work.

  100. Hi Annie,

I emailed u yesterday about the Reese’s Pieces Cake. THank you for getting back to me so quickly. I just relaized that I do not have a mixer that has the “paddles” , can I just use a regualr mixer and will this effect the way the cake comes out?
    THank You,
    Diane

    • Hi Diane,
You can always use a regular mixer, I just write the recipes to include the stand mixer and paddle attachment because that is what I use. It will not effect the resulting cake as long as you follow the mixing instructions (don’t overmix once the dry ingredients have been added.) Good luck!

  101. So glad to have found your foodblog this past week (through Pioneer Woman, another recent find)! I was also glad to see that you are also from Indiana! My husband was born and raised in Miami Co. and that’s where I ended up spending the last 3 years of my life. Now we’re in Thailand, and most of my food joy comes from looking at fantastic blogs, since I don’t have a real kitchen anymore. I look forward following you along, checking out your recipes, and seeing how I can adapt them to life here!

  102. Dear Annie,

Glad you chose blogging as a hobby … love it. I am a new reader; I followed a link from Pioneer Woman to your site and since I am also a hoosier (live in the southern most part of our glorious state, Evansville) I couldn’t resist the urge to write. Great recipes which I intend to try after I return from my little Christmas and Beyond Holiday in southern California and near Tucson, AZ vacation. Anniebee

  103. I am in medical school currently. The guys in my class make fun of me because I am always cooking something and bringing it to class. (The girls curse and thank me for my delicious sweets…) I’m glad to find your blog. We just covered subarachnoid hemorrhages in neuro, and someone in my class found your cupcakes and sent me the link. Glad to know that there’s another medically minded person out there with my love for cooking! 🙂

  104. Hi Annie,

I’m one of the pediatric residents in Nashville, and recently had the pleasure of working with Sunny Bell, who directed me to your site. I’m always looking for new recipes, and have really enjoyed looking over what you have here! Thanks for sharing!

  105. I absolutely love reading your blog. Your recipes and photographs are beautiful. I’m a food geek myself and have always admired people who can capture beautiful food as if it was a work of art! Thanks for sharing your tools of trade (I, too, have a Canon Rebel xTi) and hope to a Speedlite to see if it’ll help take the harsh look of the flash that comes with the built in flash. Keep blogging and I’ll keep reading!

  106. I just found your site and I have to say that I absolutely love everything you do! My husband and are newlyweds and we’re beginning to learn to cook together. I’m going to add so many of your recipes to our list to try!
Thanks again for posting such great stuff!

  107. Dear Annie,

My boyfriend and I love to cook together, but we don’t get to very often because are living in different states while he is in graduate school. Weekly, we discuss a chapter of a book to keep things interesting. The next book we discuss is of my choosing and I was thinking of being creative with it. I was hoping to find a culinary book that maybe has text and/or recipes, so we could discuss the book and try new recipes. Do you or others have any suggestions? Thanks

    • Katrina,
What a great idea! My first suggestion would be The Sweet Life in Paris by David Lebovitz. It is a wonderful read, and has lots of recipes (both sweet and savory) throughout the book. Also, My Life in France by Julia Child would be a good one (though it does not contain recipes itself, she discusses the writing of her most famous cookbook.) Have fun!

  108. Hi Annie-

Just want to say “hi” and say I’ve been following your blog for a month now and it has quickly become a go-to-must-read site for me! Thanks from Toronto!

  109. Hi Annie,
I just had to wirte you and say thank you for such a lovely blog.
I am 70 years old and this internet thing is new to me and so is blogging!!
Any way I have a lot of kitchen knowledge and have promised to pass it on to our grand daughter and two of her firends ( in their 20’s) But I needed some young ideas as I am an old fashion cook. You have given me those ideas of what the younger generation likes. Thank you so much.

  110. Annie, Do you know of any good Thai food recipes/sites/blogs. My husband wants it for his birthday and I have no idea what I am doing. Just curious.

  111. I just found your site and love it! Great food and I love the design.

    • Annie
Love your blog!! I am so excited to make some of your recipes. I am having a birthday party next week. Can you post your sex on the beach recipes (the one you had in the pictchers) and also cookie dough truffles!
      Thanks

      • Hi Jacqueline,
If you read the bottom of the party post, I mentioned that the recipes will be forthcoming. You just have to be patient!

  112. Just wanted to say I love your blog!
I too am a resident… what are you going to specialize in?
Anyway, thanks again for the great blog!

  113. I’ve stumbled on your blog after searching for ‘real vanilla cakes’. Fabulous photos and fabulous food!

  114. Hi Annie
I found your blog last night and I can’t stop reading it. I too love to bake, but it has never been anything fancy. I can’t wait to start making recipes from your blog, but I have no idea where to start.

Thank you for all of the wonderful recipes and the pictures make it all that more wonderful!

  115. Hey Annie! I came across your blog via the Foodie Blogroll and It’s awesome! I am new to food blogging and I hope to improve my photography skills as much as you! I look forward to trying some of your recipes! 🙂

  116. Hi Annie! I found your blog while searching for ideas for a special Valentine’s Day dinner for my husband (loved your heart-shaped raviolis so much that we made out own version of them!) and I just can’t get enough of it! I am fairly new to the world of food blogging, but come across so many great foodies like yourself. You’re truly an inspiration, for many reasons and I can’t wait to participate in the next A Taste of Yellow event!

  117. I just found your blog recently and it has quickly become one of my favorites and I wanted others to share in my discovery. I shared a link to your blog on my facebook page!

  118. I just found your website/blog today and can’t wait to try some of these recipes. One of the best recipe/cooking sites that I’ve been on.

  119. I hope you can help me; I am allergic to Peppers, all kinds, along with Paprika, Cumin and such. Even when I travel, it seems like I live on Peanut butter because those spices and peppers seem to be in every thing. either for color or accent. I just simply cannot eat it, or pick it out or water it down.

I would love to make so many different dishes but it seems that these items are ‘everywhere’! as I have gotten older, it has really made me feel “left out’ because everyone else can eat those things.

do you have either recipes or advise on how to adapt…? I do eat meat occasionally but prefer fish and vegetables.
Thank you very much for letting me write to you. even if you cannot help at least visiting your site is fun! and the people who write to you seem very nice too!
    Thank you again!
    Sincerely,
    DC

    • Hello DC,
I’m sure those allergies can be very frustrating. I definitely have plenty of recipes on the site that would be okay for you to eat. Just browse around and find what suits you!

  120. Hi Annie, I found your blog when I was looking for bread recipes. I can finally make homemade bread!! The recipes are easy to follow and have turned out perfect everytime. I’m a fan of your blog and will try many more recipes. Thanks

  121. Hi Annie! I love your blog! I am actually throwing a girls/guys night, and I decided to duplicate your menu! I did not see where you posted the recipes for the ladies’ recipe. I would really like to have the recipes if possible! Thanks!

    • Dara,
Some of them have been posted and some have not. You can just browse through or use the search bar to find what you are looking for.

  122. Hi Annie…

Gosh, don’t know how I stumbled upon your blog, but I am excited to read it like a book this weekend.

Goodness, where has a site like this been all my life? You’re amazing!

  123. I was just looking for a oatmeal raisen cookie recipe when I came across your blog with lots of other yummy recipes I cant wait to try. Thanks so much!!

  124. Hello Annie….I have been meaning to write to you for quite some time now… Bob and I will never forget your early morning delivery to Rob’s apartment on moving day last September…You arrived laden with the most sumptuous delights to help fortify and brighten the arduous day of sheer toil we had before us. I was an emotional wreck that morning…feeling very sad and suffering from an unrelenting headache and suddenly Annie, you were there bringing brightness and joy to us all that morning. I swear to God my headache actually subsided after a few delicious bites of your gorgeous bagels. For all you bloggers out there….I really what you to know…that Annie is not only a beautiful vibrant incredibly intelligent young woman..wife…mother and resident physician…but she is also a beautiful authentic friend….Thank-you Annie for all your lovely thoughtfulness and thank-you for the wonderful friendship you have shown our beloved son Rob. You have been there for him when he was most in need and his MOTHER certainly appreciates it…By the way I peruse your web-site and take note of your fabulous recipes…We enjoyed the chicken gyros just the other night….Come visit Rob in Chicago…Bob and I are only 70 miles N in Milwaukee and would love to share a delicious meal with You, Ben and Andrew….Affectionately Alice

  125. I just recently found your blog searching for recipes on the internet, and I am in love! I absolutely love to bake. The recipes are new and exciting for me. I was wondering if you had a good Angel Food Cake recipe? Also, any good peppermint recipes, such as bars or squares? Thank you so much for having such a great site!

    • Hi Lydia,
I do have angel food cupcakes and peppermint cake and cupcakes, though not bars or squares. Just use the search bar to find what you’re interested in.

  126. Commenting in order to subscribe. What a yummy site! You must be so grateful for such a full life of talent and love!
    d

  127. I stumbled upon your blog via foodblogs.com – (Meatless Mondays posts). After reading your yummy Strata recipe I clicked on the About tab. I couldn’t believe it when I saw you are in Indy. (I am too)

Can’t wait to visit more often

  128. I have recently come across your blog through the Pioneer Woman website and quickly fell in love with the site. I love your comment about not removing your early photography work because everyone has to start somewhere. I recently started my own food blog and am having so much fun learning the culinary art and having fun with photography. Thank you so much for your inspiration and I look forward to reading your blog and trying your recipes!

  129. Hi Annie!

I came across your blog about a month ago while searching for an Oreo Cake/Cupcake recipe…and I have been a daily reader ever since! I have printed out some of my favorites and can’t wait to try them out with my new hubby. Your blog is absolutely the best that I have come across…you update regularly, post great pics & directions, and you make the novice cook feel like she’s got a chance! Great job and thank you for giving us foodies out there some amazing ideas and inspiration!

    Niki 🙂

  130. Beautiful blog!

  131. I just stumbled across your blog and am absolutely in love with it! It is so cute. I am a college student in Texas and have a love of cooking as well! I am always on the search for new exciting recipes and ideas. I am excited to look through your blog more and try a ton of your recipes! 🙂

    -Christina

  132. Hi Annie!

I love finding other moms in the blogging world who also love to cook. Although I’m more an eater than a cook…haahaa. Look forward to reading more! You have a beautiful family!

  133. Hi Annie, I just found your sight through Stumble and your recipes look amazing 🙂 My only problem is that I live in Colorado Springs, which has quite a high elevation. I want to try some of your baking recipes (the Carbomb Cupcakes especially) but I’m worried that the elevation will require some adjustments (I’m originally from NC, fairly new to the CO area). I’ve read several different suggestions online but was wondering if you had any idea what would be the best route to take?

    • Hi Brittany,
I’ve lived in IN my whole life so I have no experience or advice regarding baking at elevation. Sorry!

  134. Hi Annie,

I came across your blog through a friend at work. Your site is spectacular. The photos are truly beautiful and such a delight to view. You are clearly very talented and extremely creative.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Jill

  135. Hi Annie! I just found your blog from the link on Baking Bites and I love it. I’m definitely adding it to my feed.

  136. My friend sent me to your blog and I love everything I’ve tried!

  137. Am just trying to subscribe to be notified of new posts via email. I know I’m going to love your blog, Annie, because it’s mentioned in Lauren’s Kitchen, which I recently read my way through from the beginning. Next up: yours!

  138. Hi Annie,
My youngest daughter, who is a senior at IU, was surfing some food websites one day in the computer lab and your loyal brother (who was seated next to her) noticed and told her about your blog. She has been a faithful reader ever since. At Christmas break her and I used your directions to make cut out cookies with the royal icing. We made snowflakes which were a huge hit at all the holiday parties we attended. She decided she would like to make them for her graduation party as take home party favors. She saw an IU cookie cutter at the IU store in the mall which we purchased when I was down last weekend for “mom’s weekend”. The problem is when we looked at the cookie cutter later, it became confusing as to how we would do the frosting to get the red IU with the white background (freehand would be messy I believe). Any advice you can give us would be helpful. I can send a pic of the cookie cutter from my phone to an email address if you would like. The party is going to be a champagne brunch and we have the menu pretty well set except for hot dishes. We are wanting to have a few egg, french toast, blintz type dishes if you have any suggestions that work well for a crowd of about 30-40 people. The problem I’m seeing is trying to keep that type of dish warm seeing as it will be outside in a tent with no electrical outlets nearby. The other dishes are going to be cold, smoked salmon, ham and rolls, fruit salad, pastries… Looking forward to your input,
    Cindy Borzych

  139. My husband and I just stumbled onto your blog last night! We were drooling over the pictures and recipes until 1 am!!!! We are hooked! I am in love with this blog! And you have inspired me to bake more often! I use to bake, but since baby no 3, I just don’t make time for it any more!!! 🙂 Keep up the great work!

  140. Hi, Annie.

I also live in Indy and love to cook. I enjoy reading your blog. Keep up the good work and be sure to let me know of any good foodie places you know of in Indy.

  141. Hi Annie, I just found your blog today while looking at links from Brown Eyed Baker’s site (I only recently started reading her blog too). I am one following very much in your footsteps–I’m a medical student (although currently taking a detour and getting a PhD along the way as well) who has been baking and recipe-collecting for years now but just joined the blogging world last April. I am totally blown away by your prolific writing and high-quality photography while being a busy mom and wife and resident! Kudos to you. I was wondering, what specialty are you in? I couldn’t ascertain that from reading posts from around the time that you graduated last year. Hope all is going well and I’m looking forward to reading your blog regularly from this day forth! Please feel welcome to visit my blog too if you have a chance!

    • DPLK,
I try to keep my professional career separate from my cooking blog for the most part, so I choose not to share my area of specialty.

  142. OMG ur recipes look absolutely delicious!! have 1 question…who takes the pics of all of the recipes and stuff? they look sooo appetizing. Also, when i first saw a pic of u, i thought, she must be like english or irish or something…what’s ur ethnic background? and ur gorgeous…p.s. i’m making 1 of ur cupcake recipe this week and they look so good! Thanks!

    • Hi Angela,
As I mention on this very page, I take all the photos myself. As for my background, I’m half Polish, a quarter Croatian, and a smattering of other things I forget at the moment 🙂

  143. Just came over from Bobbi+Mike’s blog. Love your site and your shoot with her. You should update your “about me” photo with one she took. They are so amazing!

  144. Last week I visited with my son, a MD you work with, and grandchildren.

He cooked some of your recipes for me and they were yummy. I especially enjoyed the tomato tart!!

    Keep up the good work.

I am enjoying your website too!!

  145. Good morning from Arizona, Annie!

Just came from Bobbi + Mike’s blog and wanted to share! I first heard about your blog when I saw the first photoshoot they did with you + Andrew + Ben. And I’ve been a faithful, daily reader of Annies Eats ever since! Bobbi’s photos are incredible + I think you have a new picture for this section! I just got done with a big test and her pictures of you totally made my day!! Keep up the great work, you’re wonderful!

ps…I’m also a medical student and a baker, so you’re one of my heros! 🙂

  146. Your site is fantastic, and I found it just in time for “grocery list making” day. 🙂 I can’t wait to spend more time getting lost here.

  147. I absolutely love your blog! I have tried a few things you have put on here and have loved them!! You are such an inspiration and so much fun!- Thank You! I just have a question…Have you ever tried making Cake Balls? It’s like a truffle with bits of cake and icing on the inside? I know there are several places in TX that are really popular with these. I just wanted to know your thoughts on them and if you had ever made them before? (austincakeball.com and cakeballs.com) Thanks so much!

    • Hi Amy,
I know of cake balls, they seem to be all the rage lately. I’ve never made them myself and don’t plan to. They seem like a very labor intensive treat for something that doesn’t taste all that amazing. I prefer to spend my time on more gratifying pursuits, I suppose 🙂

  148. Hi Annie, i just wanted to complement you on your blog, this is a great… I mean, let me correct myself, by far the BEST BLOG i’ve ever laid eyes on.
Amazing colors, layouts and lots of help!
I wish you and ur family the very best!
    Keep it up!
    PLEASE 🙂
    Kisses,
    -Laura

  149. Hello there!

I just recently stumbled on your blog when I was looking for the Cherry Limeade Cupcake recipe. I have still yet to try making them, but I am in love with looking through your blog.

When I searched for spinach I came across the Greek Pizza recipe. This intrigued me because I make homemade pizzas weekly. I make my own greek pizza that I love, and was curious what it is you do with yours. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that you are from Indianapolis. I’m in Greenfield and lived in Indianapolis before moving here just a couple of years ago.

I’m not sure why, but knowing that you’re so close makes it that much more fun to read!

If you get the chance you should check out http://www.bakingdom.com. The girl that does that blog is a friend of mine from high school. She’s wonderfully talented, and I bet you’d enjoy her site. She’s from around here as well although she is a military wife and gets to travel all over the country now.

I’m really enjoying your site, and I just wanted to give a shout out from a fellow Hoosier!

    Andrea R.

  150. Hi, Annie! I always visit your blog and I need to tell, it’s awesome!

Well, I also have a blog and I write a tip’s section called Chocorango Recommends (http://tipschocorango.blogspot.com/2009/08/chocorango-recommends.html), where I show beautiful food blogs around the world.

I’d love to present your blog on there. I always put two pics and a link of the choosen blog.

I’m waiting for an answer. I hope obtain your authorization.

    All the best.

  151. Hey Annie!
You have a cult following on our labor and delivery unit. We all come to work and talk about “Annie recipes” we have either made or HAVE to try. Our favorite this week are you Benchiladas! We just finished a pan after three days and hubby is asking when I plan on making them again! 🙂 I am now a faithful follower! Oh! Your photography is GREAT!

  152. This site is so amazing I’m hooked on it!! I just recently put together a recipe book for my cousin as a wedding gift. I sent a letter to all 240 guests asking them to send me a family favorite with a picture and or note if they liked. I had no idea what a project it would be! Almost everyone responded. I scrapbooked the whole thing. It took me about three months but the final product was so amazing, and so worth the time and effort. She and her husband love it. If only I knew about your blog then I would have had a few more recipes to add! Thanks for being so dedicated. I’ve got my mom hooked too. I’m making Roasted GArlic Hummus right now. 🙂

    Nancy
    Albany, NY

  153. Those are beautiful photos! I have been making so many of your recipes and my husband and I haven’t been disappointed yet! I am thrilled to have found your site. Thank you for amazing recipes and beautiful photos. I was wondering if you have a good brown sugar brownie recipe? Not a blondie. Thank you!

  154. Hi Annie,
I’m a faithful follower of your blog! I check it daily and usually plan my meals around your newest postings. I have one recipe I’d love for you to try because I’m too afraid to. It’s called “Crack Pie” and it’s from Momofuku’s Bakery in NYC. I read about it in our local paper. Apparently it is taking NYC by storm. People swoon and wax poetic about it. Each pie costs $44, which is crazy when you look at the ingredient list! I was going to make it this weekend but I was hoping you’d make it first!

    • Hi Anne Marie,
Thanks for the sweet comment. Unfortunately I won’t be able to make this pie before you if you’re planning to make it this weekend. I typically have 2-4 weeks worth of posts ready to go at any time, so even if I made it, it wouldn’t be posted for some time. But if you want me to give it a shot I’m more than happy to try it! I’m very intrigued!

  155. I just wanted to say that your blog is awesome! I stumbled across it while looking up ideas for my son’s first birthday. I am looking for some easy food recipes to make for our guest. Are there any easy ones you would recommend? We are having like 16 people.

    Thanks,

    Angela

    • Angela,
That entirely depends on what kind of party you’re planning, etc. I would just browse the site, anything I have posted I recommend. It’s tough to give suggestions with no knowledge about the party.

  156. Wow, I am really flattered that you’d be willing to try one of my suggestions! By all means, I’d be more than happy to wait until you do it! I’m sure you’ll have very helpful tips. Thank you so much!

  157. Hi Annie,
I found your blog when I got an irresistable craving for gyros. I’m now a loyal fan, and have even passed your website along to friends. One request I have, should you ever reconfigure your website (I’m not particularly computer savvy as I’m also a doc…) would be if you could somehow categorize or flag recipes that are dairy free. My husband is severely lactose intolerant. I LOVE dairy. So a lot of my recipes have a lot of dairy in them. I’m always on the prowl for nondairy related recipes. That being said, I love your recipes becuase they are very simple and quick, which is great for me because I have two small children and work long hours. They are also very adaptable to a variety of tastes! Kudos to you. And thank you for sharing such amazing recipes.

  158. Hi Annie!

I saw your recipe on Tastespotting and found your blog! Beautiful Blog and Thank you so much for the Photography Info, like you I am learning the Art of Photography on my own by looking at blogs & learning from wonderful bloggers like yourself!!! 🙂

  159. Hi Annie,

I love baking from scratch, but I have never found the perfect, moist chocolate cake recipe. I am making my husband his favorite Birthday dessert- Chocolate Cake with Mint Filling and Chocolate Ganache- and would love to use a scratch cake recipe versus the boxed mix. Do you have one you would recommend?

    • Hi Lauren,
Hopefully this response isn’t too late to be useful. So far my favorite chocolate cake recipe is the sour cream chocolate cake recipe from Baking Illustrated. If you look on my blog, I used it as the cake base for the chocolate whiskey cupcakes. Just make the same batter and bake it as cake layers instead of cupcakes.

  160. Hi Annie!

I love your blog – I’ve already made so many recipes! I was just wondering what happened to the Earth Day giveaway? If I didn’t win (which I assume I didn’t!!) 🙂 I am going to order myself some of those bags – they look awesome!
Keep up the great work – you inspire many!
    Krista

  161. Hello Annie,

I loved your blog. But I am surprised to see recipe as they look very professional. I would love to see some Indian recipe in your blog if you ever try some.

    Sweety

  162. Thanks, Annie! I am such a space-case! Can you tell that I have two kids under two and am in the middle of finals?!?! I completely breezed over that – I saw it, but figured no one other than me would eat Mango – so I didn’t read the whole thing!!
Thanks again 🙂 I am going to get myself some new bags now!

  163. I just told my husband that I found the best food blog, and that I wish you were my wife so you would let me eat your food. Hahaha

  164. Hello Annie I just happened to stumble upon your blog I don’t even remember how, but boy am I glad I did! I’m already thinking of all the recipes I want to try! Love your photography too!

  165. I LOVE your blog, Annie!! Keep up the great work! 🙂

  166. Think the new pictures of you on your blog are stunning…..
Was wondering if you had a great recipe for a non-alchohic fruit punch. I have a pamper evening for 21st May and have been given the task of making several jug fulls but haven’t a recipe or know what to look for to make a great one….. any help would be welcomed.

    • Hi Darcys,
I don’t have a specific one off the top of my head, but check out the Williams Sonoma website. I love their recipes in general and they have lots of fun non-alcoholic drinks. I have served some before at bridal showers, baby showers, etc. I bet Martha Stewart’s website also has some great ideas.

  167. Hi Annie- I stumbled upon your blog today (through Tastespotting), and I absolutley love it! Consider me addicted! I will add you to my “must check every morning” food blogs! Thanks for the inspiration! 🙂

  168. Hello Annie!

I just happened to STUMBLE UPON (www.stumbleupon.com) your website and all I have to say is…HOLY COW! The recipes on this site are just amazing and I can’t wait to start trying them out. I am a father of a 2 year old girl and I can’t wait to start making all these cup cakes, cookies, and treats for her.

I’ve been on your site for the past 3 days and I can’t get enough! Please continue the awesome work!

I’m glad to see that I’m not the only guy giving you KUDOS!

    Ciao Annie!

  169. Hi! I found your website through Stumble Upon and I LOVE it! I’ve showed it to friends and family and one day went through ALL of your recipes. I love the way your blog has followed your life, and it has catered to it. The baby food recipes are precious.

You should consider making a cookbook. I’m not actually sure if that’s legal… since it’s from other people’s recipes, but I feel like as long as you document where the recipe is originally from, it would be fine. If you made a cookbook, I’m sure it would be a huge hit! I would absolutely buy it and use it all the time.

    Just a thought.
Keep up the good work – it’s a great blog.

    • Thank you so much Kaylie! Writing a cookbook is definitely on my list of goals, though I’d like to do one of my own recipes. It is in the very early stages in my own mind, but hopefully someday it will be a reality!

  170. i love you website found it by accident

  188. Annie… I just read your “About Me” for the first time today.
I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU ARE A DOCTOR… how do you have time to blog and be a mom?
I work in Corporate America and I blog at night, no kids, but I have a husband, and I feel myself sinking at times.
    You are AMAZING!
It is women like you who give me hope that I can do it all, have a family, cook, work, and keep myself going. Thank you!!! I love your blog! You should totally start a section on “Advice for Women on how to do it all.” 🙂

  189. I came across your blog somewhat by accident, but I am sure glad that I did! You are such an inspiration for the “modern” mom and wife! Thank you for sharing your talents and recipes with all of us.

  190. Hi Annie! I love your blog, but I have one question- do you run your blog using WordPress.com or WordPress.org? I’m thinking of starting my own blog- which platform do you use and think is better? Thanks!

  191. Can I just say that I LOVE your blog! I find myself bookmarking almost every single one of your recipes.

  192. How can you look so beautiful and still eat sweets at the same time? Your skin is amazing and you are in great shape!

  197. Hi Annie. I just wanted to tell you what an inspiration you are to me. I am a second year med student and during my first year really got into cooking. I felt like that was what kept me normal and sane. I tried several of your recipes before finding out your a doc too! Now, it makes me want to continue trying out new things even more! Congrats on all your success and hope to be where you are now soon enough.

  198. Hi Annie, Just stopping by to say that I love your blog!

  199. Love love love your blog!

  200. Annie, I love your website! The photos are an amazing bonus for your recipies. Our work has regularly scheduled “Annies eats” pitch ins. You can bring anything off of your website. We haven’t had anything that wasn’t wonderful. Have you considered compiling your recipes and photos into a cookbook? It would be such a wonderful addition to the many cookbooks that most of us already own. If offered on your website, I would guess that it would be a huge success. You have a lot of fans. Thank you for feeding us with good food and great photos.
    Judy

  201. Hi Annie!
You have an awesome blog! I am just out of college and trying to build up a collection of kitchen tools and great recipes. I love to bake and try new recipes, all of them from your site have been great so far! I was wondering what your favorite baking tools are? So far I only have the basics (pots, cake pans, muffin tins, cookie sheets, and a mixer. Any must haves?
    Thanks,
    Sara Marie

    • Sara,
I’m in the process of a blog redesign and plan to have an Amazon store or at the very least, a page with a list of my favorite kitchen equipment. For now, my best advice is just to read the recipes I post and see what I use a lot. It takes too long for me to think about writing out a list.

  202. Hi Annie, I am an Annie, too. I think what you’ve done here is great. And if you haven’t already been featured on the Indianapolis morning newscast TV shows, they better give you a call.

  203. This site is amazing!

  219. Hi Annie! Your recipes look amazing! I can’t wait to try them! I, too, am a fellow Hoosier though the Army has ripped me from my home and I reside in Texas now. I work in the hectic healthcare world, too, though I am a pharmacist! (GO Butler Bulldogs!)

ah, am a doc. too. internal medicine specialist. 🙂

  222. Annie,
You’re blog is absolutely beautiful! It feel like we must have very similar taste in food (and a very similar love for it) because everything you make sounds amazing and everything I try of yours is. I have always wanted to start a blog but I always felt like people would think it was stupid because I’m no one special, who wants to read my blog (hah!). But you’ve really inspired me so thank you for that, and your wonderful blog.

    Brooke

  223. Annie!

I LOVE the recipes and photos you post on your blog.

I’m a young mum with two jobs, two young children and a passion for cooking, baking is my guilty pleasure.
I’ve enjoyed the following recipes multiple times – flourless chocolate cake, chicken enchiladas, benchiladas, creamy taco mac and the perfect pizza crust – which is truly THE perfect pizza crust (along with a handful of other recipes here and there).

My partner is a meat and potatoes kind of guy who was brought up on boxed American staples – he’s loved everything i’ve made from your site. To complicate things, i’m a 14 year vegetarian who was raised on home made, fresh meals.

Thank you for inspiring me in the kitchen!

    Melissa

  224. My daughter forwarded a link to your blog today. I am so excited to begin following your adventures! Your site is beautiful and I can’t wait to try out some of your recipes. And yes – especially the pot pie one that she sent me with a smiley face. 🙂

  225. Hi I just wanted to say I love your blog. I recently started my own blog for inspiration and I end up using your recipes a lot. (don’t worry I make sure I put your blog in there so people know-not that many people look at my blog) So thank you for your amazing recipes. =]

  226. Annie,
Great website! I’m a full-time mom and part-time nurse. I have a 5-month old son and am still trying to find my routine, but long to learn how to cook/bake better too. I’m so impressed that you’re a resident and you find time to bake and cool all of these wonderful recipes! How do you do it!? I was looking at your Fall blog and couldn’t agree with you more that I LOVE fall. I hope to be able to find time to at least make one of your Fall recipes; they all look wonderful. Thank you for the inspiration! 🙂

  227. Hi Annie! I have been visiting your site for a while now, but this is my first time commenting. I just wanted to thank you for the time and effort you put into posting recipes and pictures.

I check your blog on a daily basis and it is one of my go-to sites when I’m planning my meals for the week.

Thanks again and keep up the great work! 🙂

  228. Hi Annie! I’m recently out of college and your site gives me excellent recipes to finally try on my own stove! I love how easy you make them! I was thinking the other day..if only you had a phone app! Maybe in the future?

Thanks again for all your yummy recipes!

  229. Hi Annie. I love your blog. I have tried several recipies and all have been delicious. My new hobby is photography. I am planning on buying the Canon Rebel XTi as well. I am not very good yet at visualizing how to capture the best angles of food pictures. Most the time I find that I am too close…. Your pictures are a great resource to learn from. I have never used an SLR so I wanted to ask: In several of your pictures, for example the caramel apple cinnamon rolls or the flaky apple turnovers, how do you get the blur effect of the items that are not up front? Does the SLR camera do this automatically when you use a macro lens or is there a setting you have to be on? I want to make food photography my hobbie and your site is the best to learn both! I feel the photogrpaphy will be the hardest part.

    • You need to learn how to use your camera in manual mode. It is useless to have a nice camera if you don’t know all the settings and how to control it yourself. I only shoot in manual so that I can control my shots and get the effect I want (such as the “blur” as you referred to).

      • There are several SLR photography guide books that I found online. I will purchase one and will learn and practice as much as I can about all the available manual settings: aperture, macro, white balance, exposure ect. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

      • I highly, highly recommend the book Understanding Exposure. It’s the only one I have used and I love it.

  230. What beauty family and blog you have !! lovely! gloria

  231. Hi there!
I just wanted to let you know that I have been following your blog for a while now and truly love it. You do an exceptional job, and honestly, don’t know how you manage it all! I have included you in my list of ‘blogs that I follow’, and would love to have you visit…It is a work in progress, but we are getting there!

  232. Have you every thought of publishing a cookbook? Because I would TOTALLY buy it!

  233. I absolutely love your blog!
baking is definitely my biggest hobby and you have such wonderful and different recipes!
ive tried about 8 or 9 of your cupcake recipes on here for friends, events, and just for the fun of it and i have to say i have not been disappointed!

    much love,
    Shelby

  234. Your page is so professional with amazing unique recipes feels like home if that makes sense.. just wanted to thank you for sharing its perfect for everyone with experience or without!

  235. Hi Annie!! Your page is amazing!! I always check it every few days to see what you’ve tried. I’ll be cooking my first turkey this Thanksgiving. Do you have an recipes or tips for that???

    Thanks!!
    Ashley

    • Hi Ashley,
I’ll be doing quite a few posts in preparation for Thanksgiving with planning tips and recipes, including a post on cooking a turkey.

  236. Hello Annie,

I was directed to your blog by my cousin and WOW my head is spinning!
Finally I have connected to an inspirational, teaching, beautiful, delicious, cooking/baking blog with a twist of entertainment! I’ve gotten away from baking but now I’m jumping back in. Sugar cookies and Royal Icing…..YUM. I should have a full pumpkin patch by Sunday! Thank you for taking the time to share your talents with us!

  237. I just found your blog through another food blog and I am soooo in love (with the blog). Your pictures are great and your recipes are even better!!!!! I look forward to many more great recipes!!!!!!!!

  238. I stumbled upon your site while searching tastespotting for a pretzel recipe. I have been hooked on your sight since. Your layout and pictures are great. The thing I love, and don’t quite get, is how you post new food every couple of days. I hate on other blogs where it can take a few weeks in-between posts. I have a toddler and am still finishing up college and cannot imagine how you do what you do, but I love you for it! Thank you for so many inspiring recipes!

  239. I know what a residents life is like. How do you work, take care of a toddler, bake, and keep up with a blog? I have trouble decorating cookies with my DOG in the house…I have no idea how you can get anything done..especially intricate cookies and cakes with a toddler running around.

  240. Love this site

  241. Hey Annie, I applaud what you do! Very amusing & interesting. I’m a professional, & stumbled upon your blog because of the “Rigatoni D Gregorio” recipe. 1. because of the pasta, 2. because it’s my last name, lol…I look forward to perusing all of your entries, there’s always something to learn!! Keep up the great work!! ~Gina~

  242. Hi Annie,

I am so happy to have found your blog. I was searching for some decorated sugar cookies and I came across your site. You are doing a wonderful job, though how you are doing it I have absolutely no idea….I love your recipes and will be trying out some soon.
On a very different note have you heard of orthomolecular medicine ( I just saw a movie ‘ FoodMatters’, that mentioned it a lot ). Since you are a physician I thought I would mention it.
Congratulations on beating the cancer……sending good wishes your way and praying that you and your family always be healthy.
I recently started a food blog too….I cook all kinds of food but the majority of my dishes are Indian. Blogging is definately addictive.

  243. Friday we had our bi-monthly “treat day” at work an it was my departments turn to host. Everything I made was from your blog. When asked for recipes I simply referred people to your blog. My daughters and I have had such a good time making recipes from you blog. My oldest daughter, now 27, had no interest or knowledge as far as kitchen/cooking/baking basics and now she spends every evening in the kitchen experimenting with recipes (mostly from your blog). As I have written before, your blog has renewed my enjoyment of cooking and baking and sparked a keen interest in both my daughters. Now I only have to get my son cooking!

  244. Annie! Hello! I figured it was about time I sent you a message since I have been using your recipes for a few months now (and using them quite successfully, i might add). I am not sure how I found your blog but now I check it almost everyday! I think I have made the peanut butter chocolate-chip muffins like 10 times! Every recipe I made was wonderful…so far I have made the chicken with shallots, red velvet whoopie pies, enchiladas, Halloween candy bark, portobello broccoli red pepper melts, broccoli cheese soup, and chicken chili and I have a few recipes that I can’t wait to try for Thanksgiving (like the Brie)!! And actually, I don’t really have a major sweet tooth nor am I a major chocolate lover (gasp!) but still I find all your recipes tempting!! Keep up the good work! Thanks!

  245. Hello Annie,

Nice blog! Very well taken photos and interesting recipes!! Will definitely try the recipes out 🙂 Pls blog more.

  246. I love your blog. Your recipes are delicious! I love to bake and have tried some of your recipes and have not been disappointed once.
It was fun to read that you are in Indianapolis, IN. I am from Indiana too! I am from Marion, but I live in Florida.
Thank you so much for all your time and effort that you put into this blog. Being a busy wife, mother and doctor, it amazes me that you have time to do all this cooking and baking let alone blog about it. But I am so grateful you do! And so are my doctors since they benefit from all my baking. My doctor put me on weight watchers and I told him how much I love to bake and he told me I didn’t have to quit baking, just bring in my baked goods to the office. HA! So I surprise them regularly with treats. I have lost 50 pounds by only eating one of what I make and taking the rest to them, getting it out of my house so I won’t eat more than I should. And the nurses and staff get to enjoy it too. Their favorites are the delicious cupcake recipes!
    Thanks again!

  247. I found your site while looking for a new and fun ideas for the Hoildays. I am going to make you apple pie cup cakes today! Looking forward to baking/tasting them!

  248. Hi Annie!
I am a sophomore in college and baking is my passion! I am so happy I found your blog! It is absolutely wonderful I get most all of my recipes from here, they are all so wonderful!! The biggest hit so far are the kitchen sink cookies:) My family and friends cant get enough! I make them all the time. You are a huge role modle to so many including myself! You are amazing!!

  249. Love your blog first of all. 2nd I’m an rn so I think you must be crazy being able to do your residency hours and do all this cooking and blogging! You’re superhuman. Anyways, wondering if you have done jelly candies before? I want to do these for this holiday season. What are your thoughts if you have done them in the past.

  250. This blog is so inspiring! I love cooking, and especially baking and I am in my second year of medical school. I always worry about how I am going to manage having children, and cooking while being a resident – and you have certainly shown it to be possible :-)! Thanks for being an inspiration!

  251. I love your blog! I hope you add more truffles, biscotti, and muffin recipes1

  252. i’ve been a follower of yours ever since your recipe for guinness cake came up in my google search two years ago 🙂 i recently found out i’m expecting, and noticed you have some recipes for homemade baby food (which is awesome !) but i was wondering if you had any particular go-to recipes from during your pregnancy. thanks for all the kitchen inspiration ! 🙂

    • I just ate regular foods during my pregnancy. Other than avoiding things that gave me food aversions and not eating sushi, I didn’t change anything.

  253. Hi Annie. I wanted to ask you a photography question. I love you blog and am so amazed at the beautiful pictures you take. I have a Rebel T1i as well but have many problems taking pictures of my food. It is not the camera. It is all about the LIGHTING! Without good light, not matter how expensive the camera is, your pictures will still come out not so good. By the time I am done with dinner it is already dark outside so I cannot use the natural daylight. I try to position the plate as close as possible to a small desk lamp I have but still the pictures come out too loud (no flash setting). So I was wondering if you can please tell me what you do. How do you take these fabulous pictures at night? Do you use the no flash setting for food photography with an external light setup? Please advise. Thanks!

  254. Annie,

I love your website/recipes. I found the cookie dough truffle recipe a few days ago on moneysavingmom and made it for a pot luck lunch. it was a hit. Saw a ton of neat recipes I’d love to try.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  255. This is such a beautiful site. I am so impressed that you somehow make time to work full time and manage such an incredible blog. You are quite the inspiration.
